- Remember; the North Carolina Wildlife
Resources Commission is the final
authority for the below listed subject matter.
- Hunting is permitted only during daylight: One
half-hour before sunrise to one half-hour after sunset.
- Hunting is not permitted from a motor vehicle,
from a public road, or with the aid of lights.
- Hunters should have permission before hunting
on any private land. Written permission is required before hunting
on any posted land.
- Non-toxic shot must be used for waterfowl.
- Waterfowl hunters over 16 must have state waterfowl privilege
on a North Carolina hunting license, and a federal duck stamp.

- This section applies only to the region within 75 miles of
Wilmington.
- Deer: Either sex, except in part of western Columbus
County, where deer without visible antlers may be taken only the
first six and last six days of the season. Bag limit: 2 per day,
6 per season, of which two must be antlerless.
Bow only: Sept. 8-Oct. 1.
Muzzle-loader only: Oct. 6-12.
Gun (bow and muzzle-loaders permitted): Oct. 13-Jan. 1.
- Bear: Limit 1 per season. Hunting prohibited in bear
sanctuaries.New Hanover, Pender, Bladen, Duplin & Onslow:
Nov. 11-Jan. 1. Brunswick & Columbus: Dec. 10-Jan. 1.
- Wild turkey: Bearded turkeys only. Bag limits: Daily,
1; possession, 2; season, 2. April 13-May 11. No hunting in most
of New Hanover County and portions of Pender and Columbus.
- Quail: Bag limits: Daily, 6; possession, 12; no season
limit.
Nov. 17-Feb. 28.
- Grouse: Bag limits: Daily, 3; possession, 6; season:
30. Oct. 15-Feb. 28.
- Migratory birds: Federal regulations take precedence.
State seasons and bag limits for doves and non-migratory Canada
geese are announced each year by Aug. 1; for waterfowl by Sept.
1.
